Mini-Split Cost Guide
What Does a Mini-Split Cost? The Factors That Set the Price
Mini-split pricing varies a lot from one house to the next, which is why we don’t publish a single price. Two homes with the same square footage can need very different systems.
This guide explains what actually drives the cost, so you can compare quotes on equal terms and understand what you’re paying for.

Why every mini-split quote is different
The biggest factor is how many rooms you want to heat and cool. A single bedroom or addition might need one indoor head and one outdoor unit. A whole house with separate rooms usually needs a multi-zone system with several heads.
Installation details matter almost as much as equipment. Where the outdoor unit sits, how far the refrigerant lines need to run, how they’re routed through walls or attics, and whether the house needs electrical work all change the labor involved.
At the estimate we measure the rooms, look at the routes, and give you a written quote with the equipment and scope spelled out.
The main mini-split cost factors
These are the variables we price on every ductless quote.
- Number of zones
- More indoor heads mean more equipment, line sets, and labor.
- Indoor unit style
- Wall mounts, ceiling cassettes, floor consoles, and concealed ducted units differ in price.
- Capacity and efficiency
- Larger and higher-efficiency or cold-climate models cost more up front.
- Line set length and routing
- Long runs, multiple floors, and concealed routes add labor.
- Outdoor unit mounting
- Ground pads, wall brackets, and elevated stands vary.
- Electrical work
- A new dedicated circuit or panel upgrade may be required.

Mini-Split Installation Cost Guide questions
Why don’t you list a price online?
Because the number of zones, line routing, mounting, and electrical work vary so much that a single figure would be misleading. A free estimate gives you an accurate number.
Is a mini-split cheaper than central air?
It depends. In a home without ductwork, a mini-split often avoids the cost of adding ducts. In a home with good existing ducts, a central system may be the better value. We’ll compare both if they apply.
Are there rebates for mini-splits?
There may be. Utility and New Jersey Clean Energy Program incentives change regularly, so check current programs. We can tell you exactly which equipment we’re quoting.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Ask about our current financing offers. Terms are subject to credit approval.
