Most furnace breakdowns come down to a handful of components: the igniter, flame sensor, inducer motor, pressure switch, or control board. We know where to look.

How modern furnaces fail
A modern furnace runs through a sequence each time it starts: the inducer fan clears the vent, a pressure switch confirms draft, the igniter heats up, the gas valve opens, and the flame sensor proves the burners lit. A failure at any step shuts it down. Many furnaces flash a diagnostic code that tells us which step failed.
A dirty flame sensor is one of the most common calls we get, and it’s a quick fix. But we also check why things fail. A pressure switch problem, for example, is often caused by a blocked vent or condensate drain rather than the switch itself.

Furnace Repair questions
Why does my furnace start and then shut off?
The most common cause is a dirty flame sensor that can’t confirm the burners lit. Other causes include a blocked vent, a failing pressure switch, or overheating from a clogged filter.
Why is there water around my furnace?
High-efficiency furnaces produce condensate. A clogged drain, cracked trap, or failed condensate pump can cause leaks, and may also shut the furnace down.
Is a cracked heat exchanger dangerous?
It can allow combustion gases, including carbon monoxide, into your airflow. If we find one, we’ll show you and recommend shutting the furnace down until it’s addressed.
Can you fix my furnace if it’s still under warranty?
Yes. Many manufacturer warranties cover parts. We’ll check your warranty status and handle the claim where applicable.
